If you wish to fish in Lewis then the INN Between offers an excellent location for B & B after a successful day’s fishing -
Barvas Estate offer salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing on the largest river system in the Outer Hebrides. Barvas Estate can be booked in advance but may also be available at short notice.
Carloway Angling Club offer salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing on the Carloway River and have some lovely salmon landed each season. Day permits are available.
Garynahine Estate is just before Grimersta and Scaliscro on the Stornoway to Uig road and offer good salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing. Garynahine usually requires booking in advance although day permits may also be available.
Grimersta Estate is world famous for its world record salmon catch of 1888. Grimersta has the highest salmon catch return for the whole of the Outer Hebrides (information on website). Grimersta usually requires booking well in advance.
Scaliscro Estate is situated not far from Grimersta and offers salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing and in 2004 they registered a “MacNab”. A MacNab is 1 salmon, 1 stag and 1 grouse all of which must be caught by one individual in one day. For parties of anglers it usually requires booking in advance, day permits are available.
Uig Lodge offer salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing and it is here the newly released DVD “A life on the edge” was filmed and is set in spectacular surroundings. Uig Lodge usually requires booking in advance.
Uig & Hamnaway is set in the far west of Lewis and has fishing set amongst some of the remotest and most spectacular parts of the island. It is for their sea trout fishing they are better known and record some lovely fish annually, although they also have excellent salmon fishing (information on website). Can be booked in advance but may also be available at short notice.
The Isle of Lewis also has some of the best sea fishing in the country.
